Tool #3 is about finding and using online video and image resources. There were several suggestions of sites to visit, and I decided to go to two sites I had never seen before. One was called SchoolTube, which is the kid version of YouTube. I did a search for science videos, and found this one which was a presentation about gravity by three 5th graders. It was very well done and looked like the kids really learned something. I can see how this could be very beneficial to do.........I'll have to ponder this one.

Then I visited a site called Blinkx. What an amazing place! There were hundreds of news videos all in one location. Again, I decided to look at their science videos, and searched for volcanoes. This is one video that came up, which was live aerial footage, via helicopter, of an actual volcanic eruption in Hawaii. This video was also posted on YouTube, but Blinkx is a site that brings news videos together from multiple sources.

Picasa is a web photo sharing site. This site is free, and the photos are easily stored and edited through their software. The web album remix filter makes it easy to search and find pictures that students could use in their web based projects.
